How to teach your Japanese Spitz their name

When you’re choosing a name for your new furry friend, the most important things to keep in mind are:

    • Pick a name that’s short and easy to remember, with one or two syllables.
    • Ensure it is easy to say and spell and does not sound like common dog commands.

To teach your puppy their name, you can play some games. Try calling your dog in a playful voice and running away, then rewarding them when they come to you. Another idea is to play hide and seek, calling your puppy’s name as you hide and seeing if they can find you. This game can help improve your puppy’s listening skills and provide mental stimulation. Remember to always stay patient and positive throughout the training process.

To ensure that keeping your dog is not a nightmare…

Raising a puppy is pure joy, but let’s be honest, it can also come with some unforeseen challenges. Chewing shoes, sleepless nights, and those accidents on the carpet – all part of the adorable (and sometimes overwhelming) puppy package.

If you’re feeling like you’re in over your head, there’s no shame in asking for help. And that’s where the Ultimate Puppy Program from Spirit Dog Training comes in. This online course is packed with expert guidance and support to turn your puppy into an obedient companion from a young age. Check their website to learn more and start your training journey today!

Also, don’t forget to watch the following Free Dog Training Workshop conducted by Dr. Alexa Diaz (one of the top service dog trainers in the U.S.) and Eric Presnall (host of the hit Animal Planet TV show “Who Let the Dogs Out”). Here it is:

This unique workshop is the first of its kind, specifically designed to help “normal” dogs achieve the same level of calmness, obedience, and impulse control as service dogs. While it’s free, I’m unsure how long it’ll be available online, so I think you may want to check it out soon. Here’s the link again.
